SRI ANADAVALLI SAMEDHA SRI SIVANANDHEESWARAR TEMPLE, THIRUKKALLIL ( THIRUKANDALAM) – PULICAT HERITAGE VISIT

…a continuation post ( Thamaraipakkam check dam )
25th February 2017.
After Thamaraipakkam anaicut visit we headed towards Thirukandalam, the 18th Padal petra sthalam of Thondai Nadu, since the archakar was waiting for us.

This is the second visit to this temple Sri Sivanandheeswarar Temple at Thirukallil ( Present name is Thirukandalam )  as a part of Padal Petra Sthalangal visit. This time we looked in to heritage perspective. Tried to study the inscription at the base of the sanctum. We are able to trace the word Vikrama Chozha  from the painted inscription under Dhakshinamurthy in koshtam. Also we had noticed a sudhai vimanam thangi on the Rajagopuram, which looks different with hat. There is a separate sannadhi for Dhakshinamurthy and his consort is sitting on his lap similar to Suruttappalli.

I personally felt very sad after hearing the news of the demise of the old Sivacahriyar, who had done pooja during my earlier visit. He also offered me coffee after the dharshan.
