SRI ANJANEYAR TEMPLE AT NAMAKKAL – A HERITAGE VISIT.

It was planned to visit Namakkal after attending Sri Veeramathi Amman’s annual festival at Talkuni, Kolappalur on 27th July 2017. Self and Mrs Sakthi Prakash started from Erode by bus around 08.00 hrs.  It was about 2 hours journey from Erode via Thiruchengodu. Upon reaching Namakkal, we preferred to walk to Sri Anjaneyar Temple from bus stand, which is about a km.  First we, had the dharshan of Sri Anjaneyar.

This temple is just opposite to Sri Narasimhaswamy’s cave temple. Moolavar Sri Anjaneyar with a sword on his waist and holding saligrama mala. Anjaneyar is made from a monolithic stone of 18 feet high facing east under open sky. There are 4 four pillars standing near Sri Anjaneyar. On the wall of prakaram drawings of Anjaneyars various legends.   It  is believed that the temple was built during 5th century AD,  but no evidence is found.  

TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The temple will be opened between 06.30 hrs to 13.00 hrs and 16.30 hrs to 21.00 hrs.

Bus facilities are available from major cities of Tamil Nadu.
The temple is about a km distance from Bus stand and lot of share autos are available from arch.
